Billy Martin's New Wholesale Apparel Line -- Born & Bred in the USA NEW YORK, Oct 25, 2004 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Billy Martin's USA, Inc. (BLYM) -- the 25 year old retail company known for its upscale products with a "western twist" -- is developing a line of premium apparel products for wholesale distribution in the US and abroad. According to CEO, Doug Newton, who founded the business with former NY Yankee manager, Billy Martin in 1978, "the new line will have a unique twist of its own: The goods will actually be made in America." "Just imagine" Newton
said "we will produce our "western" inspired apparel products
in this country. Our goal will be to use the best designers and workers
in US cities to create jobs and quality products for sale at home and
throughout the global marketplace. "Hopefully," Newton said "our premium apparel line will have just a hint of "western" flavoring to it, so as to attract a wide cross-section of consumers, while also appealing to the patriotic side of wholesale buyers at some of America's bigger and better chain stores." Newton plans to ask a few celebrity friends -- who shop at the Billy Martin's retail stores in NYC and/or Hollywood -- to help promote the wholesale line -- including Don Imus, Billy Bob Thornton, Sheryl Crow, Winsor Harmon (a one-time employee of Billy Martin's), Mickey Rourke and Dwight Yoakam. "Ultimately," Newton said "our success will depend not on our brand name -- or the celebrities associated with it -- but on the value, attractiveness, fit, comfort and pricing of the clothes themselves."
