Doug Newton
Director, President and CEO

Doug is president of Billy Martin's USA, Inc. He has been chief executive and guiding spirit of the retail company since he and Billy founded it in New York City 1978. Billy retired from the business in 1982.

From 1976 to 1988, he headed Yankee One Management, Inc., a sports management company in New York, NY whose exclusive clients included Roger Maris, Sparky Lyle, Whitey Ford, Phil Rizzuto, and Billy Martin. For six years, Doug was Billy’s agent and business manager, negotiating his contract(s) with George Steinbrenner (NY Yankees), and Charley Finley (Oakland A’s), and his commercials for Miller Lite Beer. Prior to Yankee One, he began his career at Benton & Bowles, Inc., in their account management training program. He later became asst. AE and/or Account Exec. on General Foods (Post Cereals), Proctor & Gamble, Lite Beer From Miller, Peter Paul Candy, Hasbro Toys, Gillette (TRAC II) and the White House anti-inflation WIN campaign.

A native of Colorado -- the son and grandson of Texans -- Doug went east to attend Columbia Univ. from which he holds a BA degree. He is a charter and founding member of the Madison Avenue Children's Fund; member of the Children's Aid Society of New York; former appointed member of two New York City Mayoral Sister City Programs, NYC-Rome and NYC-Tokyo, two time former member of the Board of Trustees of the Big Brothers-Big Sisters organization of the desert, and current member of the Columbia University Alumni Association of Southern California.

With the support of the L'Amour family, Doug conceived, organized and opened the Louis L'Amour Library and Gallery in Los Angeles, which includes a photographic retrospective of the life and times of this prolific writer of the American West.
